From the author of bestseller, The Shopping Swap, comes a holiday story that will make you smile and believe in the magic of holiday romance.
Taylor Barnes has a dilemma. She is 32 and about to realize her dreams of making partner at her New York City high-powered law firm with a fancy office and a huge salary. She has no time for anything else in her life -least of all a boyfriend. Yet something stands in the way of her coveted promotion Charles Wigs, family man and managing partner at Gotsall and Craig who questions whether the single Taylor Barnes can project the right image for the firm.
Not only does her own boss question her singledom, but so does her entire family back home! When an invitation to her cousin's Christmas wedding lands on her desk, Taylor must head back to Pennsylvania to face the music.
It seems as if Taylor has to convince everyone that she's got the perfect life with the
perfect boyfriend -all before the clock strikes twelve on New Year's Eve. But how is she to make this happen?
Taylor thinks she’s found the answer. Why not hire a temporary boyfriend to help her get through the holidays? It’s the best of both worlds and without any of the emotional baggage that comes with a real relationship. However, when handsome Hunter Ryan answers the ad for the position, Taylor finds herself with more than she bargained for. Ryan can certainly talk the talk, but does he have what it takes to walk the walk? Could he possibly cost her that coveted partnership that she has been working for since the beginning of her career? Could something that starts out as a simple employment proposition turn out to have her questioning everything she has worked so hard to achieve? Will this Holiday Gig turn Taylor's professional and personal life on its head?

Taylor Barnes is a 32-year-old corporate lawyer aspiring to make partner. The problem? She's a workaholic gal with no time for a social life or for keeping in touch with her family. The dilemma? She needs to project a balance between work and social life says her boss, or she won't make partner in the firm. Because making partner is her reason for living, she decides to make things look good by hiring a man to impersonate her serious boyfriend. This isn't just chick-lit lite, however. There is an underlying edge to its comedy as the author seems to be writing with tongue firmly implanted in cheek. It's as if the story is so preposterous we are expected to believe it as truth, knowing as we do, that's all in fun. But seriously. There are life lessons in there for the characters, and perhaps also for the readers. No heavy hand, here, though. The whole story is laced with funny scenes, clever ploys, and cute dialogue. I like this book.
My main quibble with it (reason for not giving it five stars) is that this Kindle version needed a couple more proofreads. There were many, many places where too many spaces were marked with underlines, as if they had been highlighted to fix but never made it to the edit. Also, there were quite a few misplaced words. For example, she used "shuttered" where she meant "shuddered," and "lightening" instead of "lightning." My other reason for not giving it five stars is that it had a few too many Tom Cruise references and I got sick of them.
Otherwise, this was a quick, fun read. It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to complete. It made me smile, and I only groaned once, at the very last line of the book. So there.

The Holiday Gig edition by Erin Brady Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
It's an ok book. It feels weird reading like 200 pages were 160 of them is only about how she is feeling.
I would have liked some deeper environmental descriptions and.. Just a bit "more"
This was a surprising book. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. It reminded me of a movie I really love, but with just enough difference to be fresh. I wasn't at all sure all the time where it was going, but it did end well. Thank you for that.
This is by far one of the best Romance Books I've reead. Not to mention funny, sophisticated, sexy, exciting and family oriented especially because of the holiday. I could see each character, visualize each scene and emotion. I nees this to be a Hallmark Special!
Taylor Barnes is a high powered attorney working for a prestigious law firm. She hires the handsome Hunter Ryan to be her boyfriend in in a scheme to help her get the job as partner.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! The main character Taylor did seem to be a crazy extreme worker at the beginning; I wonder if people really do think that way (i.e. work is #1 above all else). It seemed a bit overboard but I guess still plausible. Anyway, it was nice to see her relax and become a more normal person eventually. Hunter was a really sweet and likable character, spunky and always supporting Taylor in her awkward family situations and company parties. His thoughtfulness and ability to stay cool in all situations was admirable. The only gripe I have is that there were hints of his background/his motivation for taking up Taylor's job offer, but nothing revealed until almost the end of the book! Then, his background came tumbling out in one shot and somehow he reappeared. Nonetheless, a touching story and very heartfelt. Great read!
This is one of my new favorite books and authors! Hunter and Taylor brought out the best in each other. Hunter's wisdom, integrity, and commitment to his job as Taylor's pretend boyfriend allowed Taylor the freedom to see areas in her life that needed to change for the better and enable her to become a more loving, content, and balanced person. She realized that having it altogether and making it to the top isn't what life is all about. The story was amazing as was the humor and Hunter and Taylor's relationship. I couldn't put the book down! A must read!
This was a really good book, although I found the first half of the book to be somewhat slow-moving. By the time I got to the half way mark, I started to get into the storyline a little deeper. I found the main character to be likeable and easily identifiable. Hunter Ryan, her man candy, was smokin.' I found the scenes in the book to be very descriptive and a good escape. I live in Pennsylvania and I've never found it to be nearly as beautiful as the author describes it to be, so it was interesting reading about it from an alternate viewpoint.
What I didn't like about the book I wasn't a fan of the ending. Okay, I get it. The author wanted to see the main character exit the book with her head held high, her self-respect in check, and acting in a dignified manner. However, I felt like the author was wasting Taylor's life and talent with her "dignified" decision at the end. She could have made the character come out on top professionally, too, instead of demeaning her, all in the name of love. Another thing I disliked if I had to hear one more time about Hunter wearing a blue pea coat, I thought I was going to scream. Way to beat a dead horse. Also, the author and editor should research the fact that there is no such thing as a VANILLA folder; the correct term is MANILA folder! Just sayin'....
